1. Choose a suitable distributor
Compare distribution fees, royalty terms, release limits and platform coverage. Confirm that Apple Music delivery is supported by the specific plan you intend to use.
2. Prepare your master recording
Export your final audio according to the distributor's specifications. Make sure you have the necessary rights and permissions to distribute the recording.
3. Prepare artwork and metadata
Check your cover artwork, song title, artist name, contributor credits and other requested details. Errors may delay a release or affect how it appears on the service.
4. Submit your release
Upload the required files and review all details before submission. Respond to review requests and allow enough time for distribution and processing.
5. Check your release
After the song becomes available, check its listing on Apple Music. Verify the title, artwork, artist name and credits.
6. Claim Apple Music for Artists
After your music is available, you can request access to Apple Music for Artists. Apple's guidance says a release must have been live for at least five business days before an artist can claim their page. Identity or artist-team verification is also required.
