How to Release a Song on Spotify in India (2026)

1. Choose a music distributor

Compare distribution fees, royalty terms, supported platforms, release limits and customer support before choosing a service.

RMC Records provides distribution options for independent artists. Review the current plans and conditions before submitting your music.

2. Prepare your final audio

Export your final master according to your distributor's specifications. Make sure you own or have permission to distribute the recording, including any samples and third-party material.

3. Prepare your cover artwork

Use artwork that meets the distributor's requirements. Make sure you have permission to use all images, logos and other elements included in the artwork.

4. Enter accurate song information

Prepare your track title, primary artist, featured artists, songwriter and producer credits, language, genre and intended release date. Review everything carefully to reduce errors and delays.

5. Submit your release early

Upload the required files through your distributor's workflow and respond to any quality-control requests. Allow sufficient time for review and delivery. A requested release date is not a guarantee that the song will be live by that date.

6. Access Spotify for Artists

Once your music is available, follow Spotify's official process to access your artist profile. Spotify for Artists provides tools for managing your profile and viewing available audience information.

7. Promote your release

Share your song link, create short-form videos, contact relevant music communities and prepare promotional content for release day. Use legitimate promotion methods and avoid services promising guaranteed streams.

Can I release music on Spotify for free?

Costs depend on your distributor and plan. Some services offer free or entry-level options with conditions, while others charge subscription fees, per-release fees or a share of royalties. Check the full terms before signing up.
